Stand off distance is a big deal to me. Good review. Gabe is Huge!
Next he needs to come out with a one sticking system made out of carbon
Good review. The problem I have with the wire style aider is they get stuck on the lugs of my rubber boots when Climbing. Do others have this problem?
This style aider works with this stick for what it is and what the company is trying to accomplish in keeping it extremely lightweight while providing some functionality; however, I have never been a fan of this style at all. You'll always see me promote either Backwoods Mobile Gear, or more usually, Ultimaider's style of webbing aider. The just don't collapse like an amsteel aider does when you step into it -- but that "collapsibility" factor is precisely what allowed them to use it in this application.
@@StaggsintheWild I see what you’re saying.
Looks like great sticks! Thank you for sharing my friends!
How ya like them to the ewo ?
@@timmilliken1009 I’ll never get rid of my EWOs. We just put a premium on footroom … but these are super-sweet being only 15 ounces each!
So 2nd to the ewo ?
@@timmilliken1009 I would probably say yes given all the other features that are combined into one stick. Better stand-off height than Beast sticks. Certainly lighter. And Beasts were my number two.
The people that are able to stand through the pain long enough and consistently enough to develop plantar fasciitis, that’s an insane level of pain tolerance.
Anyway to put a cam cleat on one of them? I sometimes one stick climb.
@@robdixon2259 the only option I know of is Out On A Limb makes a cleat adapter for Tethrd’s One Sticks … you could check with Tree Styx and get their thoughts on the compatibility of it.
Jesus Crimety, who’s the giant that ate your son? My word haven’t watched you for??? Not that long? Your son got giant.
I got a set at the Dalton show as well, and just sold my Tethrd One Sticks yesterday…. These are the real deal. The only thing I can knock them on is I’m not a fan of how the rope stores around the standoff. I put the G3D rope tamer, made for the Tethrd One Sticks, on the Tree Styx’s and they fit perfectly. The footprint of the sticks are much tighter and cleaner using the rope tamer.
I was one of the ones saying the price was outrageous. But did some research and after adding aiders, a containment system, and even stealth strips it narrowed the price between tree Styx and tethrd ones tremendously. Then add in they are American made I figured why not give them a try. I’m glad I did because they really are outstanding. Great review as always but really did a great job of going over the price etc. Now when is the Gen 2 of the stealth pack coming out?
@@kirkloos8141 thanks for taking time to comment. Thought it was going to be yesterday, but there’s been a slight delay as we get it perfect. Hopefully in the next couple weeks.
Got mine and love them. Id like to see an option for a non built in aider version. I detest that kind of aider and prefer a versa aider
@@Deerpoo22 I’m a huge fan of the Ultimaider, as it’s much stiffer and doesn’t collapse around your foot as much. Having said that, this system works well for what it is and in conjunction with these sticks.
Very cool, innovative sticks! Great video. Thanks for the clarification on the price. You get what you pay for!
Purchased 4 of the Tree Styx at the Mobile Hunters Expo in Dalton, GA. No regrets whatsoever!
I have a question. Why do I see everyone using the shackle? Why not just put a figure eight knot and run your working end through that? Would that work?
@@theeverlyboys8725 I assume you’re referring to the quick link… it’s because when you come to a limb, you don’t want to have to fish 40’ of rope through and then feed it back down after you pass over it. I actually have a demo climb on this channel showing why in a video called “Can You Really Hit Sub-10 Pounds As A Mobile Hunter?”
@@StaggsintheWild ahhh yea thanks!! Everyone I see do these videos does them on poplar trees with the no limbs haha so I never thought of that
Solid information
You got the bluecat fever lol
Also, slowing the drift allows the bait scent to create a path for that fish to pick up on and get into an ambush position. This is also why boat control and keeping a straight path is critical. James Patterson would drift with the current and still do well when the fish are aggressive.
Sooo auxbeam? Got it
How to keep it from moving on the saddle loops?
End of the video shows a method that will if you want to accomplish that.
Dude just use SRT This looks like to much work
@@TheTimeskipper how hard is it to reach down and grab your stick and put it above you?? SRT is twice the work this is. Plus you need to throw a ball up in a tree and pull your rope up before you even start climbing? You’re back to looking for trees to hunt like the old days with a climber. Absolutely no thanks.
Do you think you could review on the transformer saddle?
@@frankresch3734 possibly down the road. Unfortunately I’m about 40 videos behind on my idea list I want to get through … 😁
Do you fish any?
@@livingthedreamfishing normally we do, lol. Got a 26’ SeaArk EasyCat we chase big blue cats on the Mississippi with … The river’s been crazy high this year though, so much that our first local tournament of the season was supposed to be today and it got cancelled because of the trees coming down river and a lot of the ramps aren’t usable.
Great video. Thanks for the info on rappelling without the clickity clackin hardware. Old school methods are much quiter.
In on that platform, what is the weight limit rated on that?

In climbing it is generally considered a no-no to have only one point of failure between yourself and the ground. Obviously 100+ feet with dynamic loads are different but it still seems sort of wild to have one point of failure. Thoughts? Currently I am using a dynamic cclimbing rope as a back up and for climbing I simply use an arborist ball, ascender and grigri since I am comfortable with that…. Basically harness attached like yours but a dynamic climbing rope below and attached with an 8 on a bite and locker.
You will always hear me and anyone else that’s halfway credible in the saddle-hunting world say this: you have to evaluate your system and do what YOU feel comfortable with. Now, having said that … I’ve literally got over a thousand climbs using the gear I use. Our ropes (as you well know, if you come from the climbing world) are rated well above an 8,000-lb breaking strength. Saddle hunters should never experience the whip effect that is possible in rock climbing… at least not nearly to the extent possible in that realm.
I am leaning towards a CGM Cobra for my first saddle purchase this year. I am torn on the waist belt though. Rope belt with sliding knot. Webbing belt with D ring buckle. Upgrade to a Raptor buckle. Upgrade to a Cobra buckle with D ring like a riggers belt for a secondary safety option… Any guidance or suggestion is appreciated. I know you like an openable bridge so I think I know what you won’t pick. 😅 Thanks
Do you ever see any black/grey things come out as you are grinding? Like a small spec about the size of a grain of rice. I have a .5hp from Meat! We’ve owned it for 1year now and it does it every single time, the worst was when I ground up a hog and it had lots of lard. When I go to clean up I notice it’s built up on the center of the blade where there auger tip gets inserted
I have not … and I clean it pretty darn thoroughly myself so I would think I would have seen something like that if it was happening?
@@StaggsintheWild yeah if it was happening you would definitely see it. I just took a really close look and can see the auger sort of moving at the tip while turning and rubs on the plate with all the small holes making that grey residue. I think I got a bent auger from the begging. I’ll contact them to see what they can do. Thanks for your reply
I'm curious about what strength of serving thread you use for the nocksets is it 3D or thinner...I have 3d and I'm wondering if that's to thick for nocksets?
This is the nock-point thread I use: amzn.to/3KrJGEM
what did you do to your repel rope when attaching it to your stabilizer how did you attach the dyno glide to to the rope
The answer to your first question can be found in this video … it’s part of an entire playlist dedicated to the subject of one-sticking located on this channel. Here’s the link: ua-cam.com/video/5iDtdKPyh8M/v-deo.htmlsi=CEpaLNSCJMVI3NOW

@@StaggsintheWild no link here here or i just cant find it lol
@@prestonginther5624 look in the two replies just ABOVE your last one … they’re both there. The first is kinking you to a video on my channel called “One-sticking: The Details” and it’s broken down by chapter in the description. The second one is a link to a video called “Where DO you attach your pull-down rope?” I’d highly advise you to look up my playlist on one-sticking. It’s by FAR the most complete and most-referenced list on the internet.
Great video, thanks
My first season saddle hunting was awful because of plantar it is awful but I’m finally starting to get some relief
I wish I could still trap
Sir, it's like looking into my future. I keep accumulating saddle hunting stuff, but I am in the market for new knee pads.
How long is Scott's one-stick? Looks shorter than your 12" ones.
12”
I had foot pain way before saddle hunting. Born flat footed. Had reconstructive surgery. I don't wish that pain on anyone.
It can be excruciating... I don't think people understand until they literally can't walk. Hope you're doing better these days.
Have you seen (One Stixing like a BOSS)? It just adds 2 rope pushers (light, collapsing poles) to advance the line before climbing the stix,(NO SLACK). It also allows you to add a prussik n pulley, for a redirect with mechanical advantage of 3 to 1, if you need it like I do. I promise you Mr. Staggs. It's awesome. More people will be able to one stix, and saddle hunt, while making it safer, and easier for everyone. I hope you watch my video and give it a try. Plz leave a comment. It would huge, Thanks
Made a new video for you (ONE STICKING). Did you see the other one?
Cruiser does not list the weight of the Saddle in size 2 and they also do not list the name manufacture of the Buckle if you know the answer to either questions please let me know
I don’t think I weighed it and unfortunately I don’t have that saddle any longer to tell you …
Try sitting in a Tree stand facing the tree. Big fan by the way.
At five foot you completely disappeared, lot good info and awesome footage, I'm getting up in age and thought a ground blind would be the way to go if you know what I mean lol.
I have the #32 meat your maker grinder and always get grease on the end at the cutter plate. It sometimes gets in my meat. I don't think this is right. Has anyone else had this problem.
So I’ve learned a LOT since making this initial video … I’ll probably do a follow-up video next year to address some of the mistakes I made and point out some of the things I’ve learned. From what you’re describing, it sounds like cooling down your meat a lot more might be a big help. I found that as my meat warmed up, it was much more prone to just creating greasy fat matter at the end of my auger, whereas if I kept it JUST above freezing, it was an absolute pleasure to grind. Hope that helps!
thank you ...great video.....
You scared me bad! - watch your video 10:59 you put your fingers by the shear blades! - then you turn machine on with your foot!
😂😂 That scared you?! Lol.
Great video amd comparison. Thank you.
Is the price higher than a fully loaded Ultimate One Stick?
I don’t believe so. Haven’t looked at pricing on either in quite some time, but I think they’re right in the same ballpark with each other.
do you think you can put a cam cleat to make it a one stick or to big?
I’d never try to use this to climb with - at least not to turn into a one-stick. Trophyline’s Wingman is much better suited for turning a “platform” into a one-sticking stick. But having said that, I wouldn’t waste my time … I’d just buy an EWO Ultimate One Stick from the start and be done with it.
@@StaggsintheWild have you used the mobile sniper?

Need Help as a total rooky , have the lone wolf rs-7, also MOS-5 seat & pad, where do I get the belt and adjuster like yours for my seat , having no lucl with the company , I am in New Zealand, great help todate for me to understand this system, better than all the rest for me-
Hi to New Zealand!! The hand climber just comes with that belt system; I didn’t add anything to it. But not a lot of guys have figured out how to adjust it at height.
I have the .5 hp grinder and it’s a beast. It serves the purpose for what we do. I would suggest getting the sausage 15 lb sausage stuffer it will make that bag filling process easier and quicker. Also putting the auger, horn and blades in the freezer at least for a half an hour before you start and do that process with every thing cold will make things quicker.
